HCBMAA can always use Ujamaa volunteers throughout the year.

For those interested in committees or the board, HCBMAA strives to offer diverse engagement, and understands that each individual holds vast cultural knowledge and therefore, as Sages we do not speak on the behalf of one another. Leadership seeks to maintain racial equity and reflect ongoing changes in the African American community. Those interested in leadership must; acknowledge the need for Brown and Black spaces, support African Diaspora peoples, and have an experiential narrative as a Black Indigenous Person of Color.

Individuals wishing to volunteer on as leadership or a committee should be able to commit 1-3 hours per month to agency business and attend/or support BIPOC networking. Specifically, individuals must be able to:

Represent HCBMAA’s mission, purpose vision and the Board's decision

Align with the seven Nguzu Saba Principles

Must represent the agency as an ambassador to the community, which requires attending one or more community meetings to encourage networking and collaborative spirit with various organizations and community leaders

Attend regularly scheduled monthly board meetings

   Facilitate 1-2 restorative circles

Attend agency functions and fundraising event

Serve for one year on leadership, August-July
